How do you go about driving traffic to your website? You need to come up with a good SEO plan. It’s fun to see what you can do with SEO, especially how to target a customer.

On many CPA (cost per action) accounts that you can get set up with online they have a special targeting feature. You let the ad run for about $300-500 and over the course of a week, stats are returned back to you and you can see if people are converting or not.

All of the CPA accounts have state of the art tracking equipment so that you can tell who is interested in your product and who isn’t. This is the real big payoff. If you can get these big companies to sell your product on a per sale basis, you’ll have it made.

This is where you pay them on a per sale basis. It’s only going work if you have your ducks in a row and can show these people that your product can sell with the traffic that is being given to you.

You do have to deal with a large amount of fraud with a CPA account. These people have other people from different countries that buy up your product then they turn around and ask you for a refund. Then you’re left with a big mess to clean up. This doesn’t go down with the bigger accounts, but it is harder for your offer to get accepted.

This happened to me on a big ISP provider. There banner advertising spot cost was about $10,000 to $20,000. I told them that I didn’t want to pay that price and I wanted a per sale basis agreement. They agreed and I had my banner on their front page.

I like to look back on my background with internet marketing and always wonder what I’d do differently if I had to start my business again. This is a good exercise for you to do. I test a lot to see what products move and which ones don’t. So if you test, do some split testing. They have software out that can help you with the testing process. All you have to do is do an online search for this.

I find that many people don’t understand the realm of targeting traffic and how specialized you can get down to. Many people target their niches way to tight. When they thought they had only 8,000 searches and 4 people competing against, then they try out paid media and get blown wide open.

With SEO you have a 5 part process, getting into the search engines, getting on the first page, getting people to click on your offer, getting people to opt in to a mailing list, then getting people to buy. When you dealing with driving traffic with a paid media account, you cut out some of those steps and can have great success.
